The creative and highly acclaimed talents of Artist Russ Estes are exclusively featured through the Paik Gallery.  Amongst his many art talents, Russ Estes unique Dry Point Etching techniques represent a resurgence of a long forgotten art form.  In the fashion of Rembrandt and Whistler, Russ Estes has kept alive this once dead and exacting art form of Dry Point Etching.

The Lawman series portrays the different styles of lawmen and visions of the Old West.  Using actual "Lawmen" dressed in attire reminiscent of the High Mountain Gunfighters, Russ Estes has captured the flavor of life and times in the Old West and the American cowboy.

The process is multifaceted and time-consuming.  First a photograph is taken of the subject.  The next step is to produce a detailed pencil drawing from the photograph.  The drawing is then transferred to a metal plate (usually copper) for the final processes. 

Attention to detail is One of Russ Estes trademarks as shown in the Three "Lawman" works where, in each of the matting presentations, Russ has included a special authentic reproduction of each lawman's original badge.
